Hi my name is abhi and I can say that I am a survivor of the 26 July cloud burst; I used to stay in airindia colony and used to stay in officers Block, Just to give an idea of how worst the situation was that day, there was almost 4 feet of water and the tennis court gate was fully submerged, in earlier years even in heavy rainfall the water logging used to be not more than 4 - 5 inches in that area , one of my friend was the victim of the Water logging as his building was on the run way side end which is near to the Mithi River, when I went to see his drowned house on the 3 rd day Of flood I was floating in water up to my neck that is almost 5.6 feet, my brother himself survived for more than 3 days near Hyatt hotel CST Road kalina and saw couple of men drown right in front of him in attempt to cross over the flowing water but the current pulled them in and they could not hang on , we spent 2 weeks without water , electricity ,and survived with minimal food but the good thing was all of us were together And fighting it out every day, everyday presented a new challenge to be overcome; I remember all the friends in colony had made two rafts from The bamboo's left at building repair site and they served us well to be used as transport and delivery of water and food provided by government And ngo’s, the water tank at the high end of the officer's block had plenty of water collected and stored in it and that became our only source For clean drinking water and even the trainee air hostess stood in the queue to get a bucket of water, it was quite a site to see a village like Atmosphere right in the heart of a city,
