So, who started the 'tsunami' rumour?

The police officer who arrested them told Newsline that the group left a dance bar in Andheri (West) in a white Maruti 800 a little before 9 pm, travelled through Lokhandwala, Andheri bridge, Jogeshwari and Meghwadi, spreading the tsunami rumour all the way.

By the time the police intercepted them at Pratap Nagar on the Western Express highway—around 11.30 pm, they had done the damage. Somebody in Dharavi had picked up the rumour and passed it on to Sangam Chawl in Nehru Nagar...

The first people to add fuel to the whispers there were, probably, Salvi Singer, Salina Singer and Sange Singer—all housewives. They have been arrested. ‘‘We are looking for the link between the two cases,’’ says Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Amitabh Gupta.
