Red alert in Pune, 2,000 shifted

This just in from Indian express (PTI report):

A red alert has been announced and over 2,000 people living in low-lying areas along the Mutha and Mula river banks in Pune have been shifted as a precautionary measure owing to the controlled discharge of water from three dams -- Khadakvasala, Mulshi and Pavana -- around the city today...

....The water being released from the dams is a controlled discharge, the officials said adding, it is being released during the day instead of night to avoid panic among people.
